Dos textos sobre autoconocimiento:

In any case, when you write about the poor, you have to be writing about yourself first, everybody else second, and the actual poor third (CW 947).
De todos modos, cuando escribes sobre los pobres, primero tienes que estar escribiendo sobre ti misma, después sobre todos los demás y en tercer lugar sobre los pobres en concreto.

To know oneself is to know one´s region, it is also to know the world, and it is also, paradoxically, a form of exile from the world, to know oneself is above all to know what one lacks, etc etc etc. I then went on to say that St. Catherine of Siena had called self-knowledge a “cell,” and that she, an unlettered woman, had remained in it literally for three years and had emerged to change the politics in Italy (CW 977 [a Betty Hester 16.12.55]).
Conocerse a uno mismo es conocer la propia región, es también conocer el mundo y es también, paradójicamente, un modo de exilio del mundo, conocerse a uno mismo es sobre todo conocer lo que a uno le falta, etc, etc, etc, Luego continué con que santa Catalina de Siena había llamado 'celda' al autoconocimiento  y que ella, una mujer iletrada, había permanecido literalmente tres años en él y había salido de ello para cambiar la política en Italia.
